Sliema Wanderers come from behind to beat Valletta

Sliema Wanderers gained revenge for their Jubilee Cup final defeat to Valletta by beating them 2-1 at the National Stadium just six days later, in Matchday 13 of the YoHealth Malta Premier.

Valletta took the lead in the 33rd minute when Paiber finished from close range after Messias capitalised on a defensive mistake.

Sliema Wanderers equalised in the 78th minute through Gomes, who turned and scored from inside the box following a cross from the left.

The winning goal arrived in the 89th minute when Espindola struck a powerful long-range shot that beat the goalkeeper and secured a 2–1 victory for Sliema.

This win puts Sliema in second place on level points with Ħamrun and 4 points below leaders and all-time rivals Floriana.
