Mateo Retegui will miss the rest of the season after suffering a leg fracture while playing for Al Qadsiah FC in the Saudi Pro League.
The Italy international was injured during a 2–2 draw against Al Shabab FC earlier this week, despite scoring and providing an assist in the match.
Medical tests confirmed that Retegui has a fracture in his lower leg and he is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days. The club has confirmed he will not play again this season.
The 26-year-old, who was born in Argentina, has been in strong form, scoring 16 goals in 28 league matches this season. He has also scored 11 goals in 28 appearances for Italy.

His absence is a major setback for Al Qadsiah, who are currently fourth in the league with 62 points, as they aim to finish in the top three and qualify for next season’s AFC Champions League Elite.
Retegui was also part of the Italy squad that lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 World Cup play-off final last month.
