Inter Milan moved a step closer to the Serie A title with a convincing 3–0 victory over Cagliari Calcio at the San Siro, opening up a 12-point lead at the top of the table.
Inter started strongly but were unable to find a breakthrough early on. A quick counter-attack involving Marcus Thuram and Francesco Pio Esposito created a big chance for Federico Dimarco, but his effort was brilliantly cleared off the line by Michel Adopo. Despite dominating the first half, Inter were frustrated by a well-organised Cagliari defence, while goalkeeper Elia Caprile also made an important save to deny Esposito.
The breakthrough finally came early in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Thuram finished calmly after a superb pass from Dimarco. Just four minutes later, Nicolò Barella doubled the lead with an excellent strike.
That second goal effectively ended the contest, with Cagliari struggling to respond. Piotr Zieliński added a third late on with a fine finish to seal an impressive win.
The result marks Inter’s third consecutive victory and leaves them on the verge of winning the league title. Their focus now turns to the Coppa Italia, where they will face Como in the second leg of their semi-final.
Cagliari remain 16th in the table, six points above the relegation zone as the season approaches its final stages.
