Andreeva shocks Swiatek to reach Stuttgart semi-finals

Mirra Andreeva produced a stunning comeback to defeat Iga Świątek and reach the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Open.

The 18-year-old lost the first set but fought back brilliantly to win 3–6, 6–4, 6–3 against the two-time Stuttgart champion. She will now face top seed Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals.

Świątek, who has enjoyed great success on clay, started strongly and took the opening set, but Andreeva grew into the match. She claimed an important break to win the second set before taking control in the decider, despite briefly falling behind.

Andreeva has impressed throughout the tournament, also knocking out defending champion Jelena Ostapenko in the opening round.

Rybakina booked her place in the semi-finals after a tough three-set win over Leylah Fernandez, coming through 6–7, 6–4, 7–6 in a match lasting over three hours.

Elsewhere, Karolína Muchová secured her first-ever win over Coco Gauff, winning 6–3, 5–7, 6–3 to reach the semi-finals in Stuttgart for the first time.

Muchová will now face Elina Svitolina, who defeated Linda Nosková 7–6, 7–5. Svitolina continues her strong season, reaching her fifth semi-final of the year.
