Sliema Wanderers secured an important 1-0 win over Valletta at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

With this victory, the Blues move up to sixth place on 12 points, level with Valletta in the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round table.

After a goalless first half, Sliema broke the deadlock in the 54th minute when Mohammed Awad fired a low shot past Valletta goalkeeper Maringa.

Valletta pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Sliema’s defence stayed strong and held on until the final whistle in the 98th minute.

This was the 5th game unbeaten for Sliema Wanderers against Valletta.
