The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has confirmed a change to the format of the Miami Grand Prix, extending the only free practice session.
Instead of the usual one-hour session, drivers and teams will now have 90 minutes of practice on the Friday. The rest of the weekend remains a sprint format, meaning there will still be no FP2 or FP3 sessions.
The FIA said the decision was made to give teams more time to prepare, especially due to the gap since the previous race and recent changes to technical and sporting regulations for 2026.
The adjusted schedule means all sessions before practice will also be moved forward by 30 minutes.

The Miami Grand Prix remains part of the sprint race weekends, which reduce overall track time, making the extra practice time particularly important for teams to fine-tune their cars.
