Marsaxlokk moved level with Ħamrun Spartans on 28 points in second place after a 1-0 win over Valletta on Sunday afternoon.
The only goal came in the 37th minute. Arias first had a shot that was cleared off the line, with he ball then fell to Dodo, who passed it to Argentine midfielder Leandro Aguirre, and he finished low past Valletta goalkeeper Maringá.
The score stayed the same until the final whistle from referee Slobodan Petrovic, with Marsaxlokk taking all three points and going level at the top of the chase for second place.
Valletta’s only chance of reaching the final four now depends on Marsaxlokk finishing second.
Marsaxlokk next face Naxxar Lions, while Valletta will play a key role in the final outcome as they face Ħamrun Spartans in the last match of the Top 6 Closing Round.
