Former Ħamrun Spartans midfielder Jovan Cadjenovic has joined Montenegro’s current league leaders FK Sutjeska Nikšić on a free transfer.
Malta Sport revealed on Sunday that Cadjenovic, along with Saliou Thioune, is no longer part of the Maltese champions’ squad, with Thioune set to continue his career in Belarus.
31-year old Cadjenovic was an integral part of Ħamrun Spartans’ historic European campaign this season and also played a key role in last year’s Premier League title triumph with the Spartans.
The Montenegrin midfielder joined Ħamrun in January last year and went on to make 44 appearances, scoring two goals across all competitions for the Black and Reds.
He also scored the decisive penalty against FK Zalgiris at the Centenary Stadium, that gave Ħamrun a qualification to the second round of the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers,
FK Sutjeska Nikšić currently sit at the top of the Meridianbet 1. CFL, Montenegro’s top division, with 36 points, holding a four-point lead over second-placed Mornar Bar.
