Floriana Young Stars deliver convincing performance to defeat Żurrieq

Floriana Young Stars produced a convincing display as they defeated GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks 4-1 in a National Hockey Championship match played at Kordin.

The first quarter was evenly balanced, ending 1-1, but in the second quarter the Floriana side began to take control of proceedings, scoring two more goals which ultimately decided the match. Despite a reaction from Żurrieq, it was once again the Greens who found the net to seal the encounter.

Jean Paul Sapiano scored twice, while captain Karl Chircop added another, and Dean Spiteri netted his first goal with the senior team.

Christ Agius scored the only goal for Żurrieq.

The umpires were David Agius and Keith Calleja.

Meanwhile, Qormi Daikin were crowned Under-14 champions after defeating Marsascala Heat 2-0, with Ben Falzon and Zack Xuereb scoring the decisive goals. The umpires were Karl Chircop and Alessandro Amore.

In the same category, Floriana Young Stars A defeated their B team 4-0. Matteo Vella Chetcuti scored a hat-trick, while Denston Aquilina added another goal. The umpires were Alessandro Amore and Xylon Cassar.
