Sporting CP and PSG meet in the Champions League on Tuesday, with both sides bringing strong records into the game. Sporting are unbeaten at home in Europe this season, while PSG have not lost away in the competition.
Sporting start the match in 14th place in the group, two points behind the top eight. They have won five of their last seven games in all competitions, and most of their points in this campaign have come from their home games. They are aiming for four straight home wins in the Champions League for the first time, but face a tough test as they have never beaten the reigning champions in Europe. Sporting’s previous meetings with the current champions were all against Real Madrid, and they have one draw and three losses.
PSG sit third in the group with 13 points, and a win here would bring them close to securing a top-eight finish. They are in good form, having won six of their last seven matches, including a 3–0 victory over Lille on Friday. PSG have also been strong away from home in Europe, losing only once in their last nine Champions League away games.
This is the first time Sporting and PSG have met in the Champions League. Sporting have been strong at home against French teams recently, winning seven of their last nine matches. PSG, however, have struggled in Portugal, winning just one of their eight European away games there.
