The Maltese Olympic Committee will host this year’s Olympic Day on Monday, 27th April at Birżebbuġa Beach, with activities starting from 09:30.
The event will bring together around 200 students from six Maltese schools for a morning of sport and learning. The programme is designed around the three key ideas of Olympic Day, Move, Learn and Discover, encouraging young people to take part in sport, try new activities, and understand the values of the Olympic Movement.
The morning will begin with an official opening at 09:30. From 09:45 until 12:15, students will rotate in small groups through 11 different activity stations. Each station will be led by qualified coaches, national federations, and representatives of the committee.
The activities will include badminton, cricket, football, golf, handball, sailing, taekwondo and volleyball. There will also be educational games, juggling sessions, and a station focused on Olympic values such as respect, friendship and excellence.
The event aims to show the wide range of sports available in Malta and to promote participation for everyone, no matter their background or ability. It also highlights the importance of staying active and working together.

Olympic Day is celebrated around the world each year to mark the founding of the modern Olympic Movement in 1894. In Malta, this beach event is a youth-focused version of the celebration, making use of the island’s outdoor setting and connection to sport.
Members of the media are invited to attend, cover the activities, and speak with students, organisers, and coaches during the event.
