The La Valette Marathon made a strong return for its fourth edition and was a great success. Starting from Manikata and finishing at Fort St Angelo in Birgu, the route took runners through beautiful coastal views and some of Malta’s most historic sites.
Organised by Corsa, the event attracted over 4,000 participants and included several races: a full marathon (42km), a half marathon (21km), 10km and 5km runs, a walkathon, and even a 1km fun run for children.
Thousands of runners took on the challenge, enjoying either 42km or 21km of scenic routes and thousands of years of Maltese history along the way.
Cosmas Kigen won the men’s full marathon with an impressive time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 43 seconds. He was followed by Omar Hassan and Martin Egebjerg. The first Maltese runner to finish was Mark Herrera, who placed eighth overall with a time of 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 8 seconds.

Nancy Waigumo was the first woman to complete the marathon, finishing in 2 hours, 45 minutes, and 58 seconds, placing fifth overall.
In the half marathon, Amos Kipchirchir crossed the finish line first in just 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 20 seconds. He was closely followed by Dillon Cassar and Tommy Wallbank.
Chelangat Sang was the first woman to finish the half marathon, completing it in 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 24 seconds, placing seventh overall.
