The second race of the 2026 Eurosport Terrex Trail Running League, supported by the Gudja Local Council, took place on Friday 17 April in the countryside around Ħas-Saptan, near Gudja.
The event is known as one of the most special races in Malta’s trail running calendar because it is held at night.
The 6.5 km race started after sunset. Runners used headlamps to see the trail, which made the race more difficult and required extra focus. Because of the low light, participants had to be careful with their footing and pace throughout the course.
The route through Ħas-Saptan Valley included rough ground and easy trails, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced runners. Newer runners could enjoy the distance, while more experienced athletes used the race to test their speed and race tactics in the dark.

As the second race in the series, it was important for the overall league standings. Runners were aiming to collect points and build on their results from the first race, ahead of tougher events later in the season.
In this race, Rosalie Borg Cauchi won the women’s category, while Luigi Grech took first place in the men’s category.
The Ħas-Saptan Night Race remains a popular event with runners. It combines competition with a unique night-time experience, making it an important and memorable part of the Eurosport Terrex Trail Running League.
