HE the President of Malta Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono officially inaugurated the 14th edition of the BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza. Forty players, selected from seventy applicants, embarked on the 53-hour nonstop volleyball challenge for a noble cause.
In his welcome speech, Fr Martin Micallef greeted the President of Malta on her first visit to Dar tal-Providenza. He remarked that the dedication of both players and volunteers sends a positive message to Maltese society about the beauty of giving. It is heartening to see young people filled with generosity and altruism, willing to commit to initiatives that support those in need of assistance, solidarity, or help. He reminded everyone that Dar tal-Providenza, now approaching its 60th anniversary, requires significant funding to continue providing residential services to individuals with disabilities. The support from the Maltese and Gozitan people through this marathon fills us with courage to carry on this work in the coming years.
