Just hours after claiming a historic promotion to Malta’s top flight football, Birżebbuġa St Peter’s have sealed an agreement with 77 Sports LLP, a sports growth and advisory firm focused on developing the next generation of high-performance football organisations. The landmark majority investment in Birzebbuga St. Peter’s FC will be made through through BSPFC Ltd.
As part of the agreement, 77 Sports LLP acquired an 80% stake in the club’s operating entity, marking the start of a long-term strategy aimed at transforming the club into one of the Mediterranean region’s most progressive and commercially innovative football organisations.
The acquisition represents the first major milestone in 77 Sports’ broader vision to identify high-potential football assets, unlock commercial opportunities, and build globally connected clubs capable of succeeding in the modern sports landscape.
As football continues to evolve, the gap between traditional clubs and future-focused organisations has continued to grow. Success is increasingly being driven not only by on-field performance, but also by leadership, infrastructure, strategic partnerships, fan engagement, and sustainable business models. 77 Sports LLP was established to help clubs bridge that gap.
Birzebbuga St. Peter’s FC has now become the latest club to embrace this vision for the future.
Under the new ownership structure, 77 Sports LLP will oversee all commercial and strategic operations, including sponsorship development, international partnerships, capital strategy, revenue growth, and organisational development. Existing football leadership will remain responsible for sporting matters, ensuring the club’s identity, culture, and competitive ambitions are preserved.

Ketan Makwana, Executive Chairman of 77 Sports, said: “Football is entering a new era, and the clubs that think globally, act quickly, and build intelligently will shape the future.
Birzebbuga St. Peter’s FC has the heritage, community support, and potential to become something far greater than many may realise. Our role is to provide the strategy, capital access, and commercial execution needed to unlock that potential.
This is not simply an investment in one club — it marks the beginning of a broader platform designed to create long-term value across football.”
Joseph Fenech, President of Birzebbuga St. Peter’s FC, added:
“This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our club. While we remain proud of our history and identity, we now have a partner with the expertise and ambition to help us expand beyond traditional boundaries.
Together, we aim to create new opportunities for our players, supporters, and community while building a club that can compete confidently in an evolving football environment.”
Building for the Future
The partnership introduces a modern governance structure focused on accountability, commercial growth, and long-term sustainability. Key priorities will include strengthening operational capabilities, enhancing fan engagement, attracting international partnerships, and creating a strong foundation for future sporting success.
The acquisition also marks a significant milestone for Maltese football, becoming the first deal of its kind since the introduction of Malta’s Sports Private Limited Liability Companies Regulations.
