The BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza is back for its 15th edition, featuring 53 hours of non-stop volleyball in the car park of the Home in Siġġiewi. The event will be opened by the President of Malta, H.E. Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono, on Friday 18th July at 6:30pm, and will run until midnight on Sunday 20th July 2025.
Forty players, chosen after six weeks of training, will form five teams and take on the challenge of playing non-stop volleyball for 53 hours – all to support a good cause.
During the media launch, Mgr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, said this year marks both the 15th edition of the marathon and the 60th anniversary of the Home. He explained that the Home urgently needs funds to keep offering residential services to 115 people and is also planning to open new community homes. He encouraged the public to attend and support the players, who are taking on this challenge with great dedication.
BOV’s Chief Operations Officer, Mr Ernest Agius, said the marathon is more than just a sports event, it shows the strength of unity. “When sport meets solidarity, we help build a kinder, fairer Malta,” he said, adding that BOV is proud to support those who believe in a better society.
There will also be live entertainment each evening from 9:00pm to midnight on the main stage at the venue. On Friday, Zone 5 will perform, followed by folk group Kantera on Saturday, and the Spiteri Lucas Band on Sunday night.
