Malta wins all matches on first day of European Snooker Championships

On Wednesday, the first day of the Men’s Team European Snooker Championships held in Golem, Albania, all three Maltese teams won the matches they played.

Malta 1, made up of Aaron Busuttil and Chris Peplow, had a strong start with a 3-0 win over Albania 3 (Albi Rama and Besjan Sinanaj). On the final day of group matches, they are scheduled to play three more matches, against Poland 3, Hungary, and Bulgaria 2.

Malta 2, represented by Alex Borg and Joseph Casha, played one match on the opening day and won 3-1 against Bulgaria 1 (Viktor Iliev and Bratislav Krastev). They will play their remaining two group matches on the second day against Albania 1 and Wales.

Malta 3, consisting of Philip Ciantar and Isaac Borg, won both of their matches and have already qualified for the knockout stage. They defeated Albania 2 (Diego Minxalli and Ronald Xoxi) 3-1, and later beat Portugal (Diogo Badalo and Jorge Paixão) 3-0. Their final group match against Ukraine will decide who finishes top of Group A.

In the individual 6 Reds event, Aaron Busuttil reached the semi-finals but was eliminated by English player Craig Steadman.
