With the women’s league taking a break this week, the men’s futsal championship carried on, and the results left the standings looking very interesting. University of Malta Futsal kept their place at the top with a big win, while the teams behind them stayed close.
The University of Malta beat Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA 12–2, stopping Żejtun from closing the gap at the top and giving the University a small but important lead.
Futsal Selection U19 earned their first points of the season with a 4–0 win over Futsal Selection U17. The U17 team are now the only side still without any points.
In the other match of the week, Marsaskala Futsal Legends defeated GZR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal 7–4. Karl Luke Schembri was the standout player, scoring six goals for Marsaskala. The win moves Marsaskala level on points with Birżebbuġa in second place, although Birżebbuġa still have a game in hand. Both teams remain three points behind the University of Malta.
