Important week brings major changes in Maltese Futsal standings

It was a significant week for Maltese futsal, with trophy matches taking place and several important results that had a major impact on the league standings in both the women’s and men’s competitions.

In the women’s league, Parr Mela Rockets Futsal earned their first-ever win with a 3–1 victory over St Andrews Futsal, after St Andrews had taken an early lead. Zero Sei Futsal continued their excellent form with an emphatic 7–1 win against Swieqi United Futsal LECO7. This result kept them unbeaten and mathematically confirmed their place in the playoffs. They now need just four more points to secure first place.

In the final and most competitive match of the week, St George’s Futsal claimed an important 3–2 win over Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus to remain second in the table. After St Andrews opened the scoring, two goals from Estefany Colmenarez turned the match in favour of the Bormla side. This victory confirmed St George’s qualification for the playoffs, while Luxol are now just one point away from securing their spot.

Five matches were played in the men’s league, with Luxol St Andrews FC Futsal facing a demanding week as they played twice.

They first recorded a dominant 13–0 win over Malta FA Futsal Selection U18, before following it up with a 5–1 victory against GZR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal. These two wins moved Luxol St Andrews level on points at the top of the table with the University of Malta Students Futsal Team, although Luxol have played one match fewer.

Malta FA Futsal Selection U17 celebrated their first win of the season with a 5–3 victory over Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal. Meanwhile, the University of Malta claimed a comfortable 3–0 win against Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness. In a key direct clash, Marsaskala Futsal Legends defeated Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA 8–4 to secure third place, moving three points clear of their rivals.
