Recent matches in Malta’s futsal cup competitions have confirmed the finalists of the women’s Enemed Trophy Femminili and the semi finalists of the men’s Laferla Futsal Trophy.
Enemed Trophy Femminili
The semi finals of the Enemed Trophy Femminili produced two closely contested matches as teams competed for a place in the final.
Zero Sei Futsal defeated Luxol St Andrews Futsal 2-1 to progress to the final. Csik scored both goals for Zero Sei, securing the result for her team.
In the other semi final, Swieqi United Futsal faced University of Malta Futsal Women. The match ended 1-1 after normal time. The score remained unchanged following extra time, and the result was decided by a penalty shootout. Swieqi United Futsal won the shootout to secure their place in the final.
The Enemed Trophy Femminili final will take place on 26 May and will feature Swieqi United Futsal against Zero Sei Futsal.
Laferla Futsal Trophy
The quarter finals of the Laferla Futsal Trophy also produced several decisive matches.
Futsal Selection U17 defeated Zejtun Corinthians Futsal 4-2 to advance to the semi finals.
Luxol Futsal recorded a 7-1 victory over Birzebbuga Futsal. Luxol recently won the Futsal Super Cup Malta.
In another quarter final, University of Malta Futsal defeated Marsaskala Futsal 3-2. The winning goal was scored in the closing seconds of the match.
The final quarter final saw Futsal Selection U19 come from behind to beat Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness 3-2 after trailing at half time.
The semi final line up of the Laferla Futsal Trophy is now confirmed. University of Malta Futsal will face Luxol Futsal, while Futsal Selection U17 will meet Futsal Selection U19.
