A first-half penalty from Jake Grech earned Floriana an important three points in the first of five matches from the Top 6 phase of the Closing Round of the YoHealth Malta Premier.

This was the first of three matches being played at the Gozo Stadium as part of the Gozo Weekender.

Just after the 15-minute mark, Paul Mbong was fouled in the box by Mark Fenech, with Gozitan referee Joseph Scerri awarding the penalty.

From 11 metres, Jake Grech put goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi on one side and the ball on the other.

His 11th league goal of the season sees him move joint top scorer alongside Lucas Villela, Vitinho and Yuri Messias

Floriana had more possession, but the match was quite balanced in terms of total shots and shots on target, with the penalty proving to be the difference.
