YoHealth Malta Premier – Closing round
Gżira United…………..0
Ħamrun Spartans……0
Gżira United and Ħamrun Spartans shared the points after a goalless draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Ħamrun Spartans were the better side for large spells of the match, but Gżira United stood firm, particularly in defence, to secure a valuable point.
Gżira nearly took the lead in the first two minutes when Maxuell Maia went through on goal, but the Ħamrun defenders scrambled back just in time to clear the ball. Ħamrun then took control, with Bulevardi forcing a good save and later trying an ambitious overhead kick that went wide. Despite Ħamrun having most of the chances and Gżira looking dangerous on the counter-attack, the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, Ħamrun kept pushing. Ceter missed a decent chance before Colombo, the Gżira keeper, made a brilliant save to deny Jonny in a one-on-one. As the game went on, things got a bit scrappy; there were plenty of fouls and a yellow card for Gżira after a high boot caught a Ħamrun player.

In the final ten minutes, Gżira put on some pressure, but the game mostly got bogged down in midfield. Ħamrun had one last golden opportunity with a free kick in the 86th minute, but Camenzuli’s low strike couldn’t find a way through. Both sides had to settle for a point as it finished 0-0.
The draw allows Gżira to retain top spot in the standings with 10 points, one ahead of Floriana, who are still to play on Wednesday against rivals Valletta.
