Lazio and Torino played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico, with a dramatic finish thanks to a late VAR decision.
Torino, one of only two Serie A teams yet to score in the first half this season, started strongly. Cyril Ngonge tested Lazio keeper Ivan Provedel early, and after a rebound from Marcus Pedersen’s shot, Giovanni Simeone tapped in the opener. It was his eighth league goal in nine games where he’s either scored first or last, including the winner against Roma last month.
Lazio hit back quickly through Matteo Cancellieri, whose long-range strike flew past Franco Israel. Torino nearly took the lead again through Kristjan Asllani, whose brilliant volley was saved by Provedel. But it was Cancellieri who gave Lazio a 2-1 lead before half-time with a well-taken second goal.
In the second half, Ché Adams equalised for Torino with a powerful strike from inside the box. Then, in added time, Saúl Coco looked to have won it for the visitors with a header at the far post.
But the drama wasn’t over. Nine minutes into added time, Lazio were awarded a penalty via VAR. Danilo Cataldi calmly converted to rescue a point.
