George Russell took pole position for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, giving Mercedes the best spot on the grid. The British driver clocked a time of 1 minute 29.158 seconds around the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
This came just a day after Russell crashed during Friday’s practice session, making his strong comeback even more impressive.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will start next to Russell in second place, just 0.182 seconds behind. Championship leader Oscar Piastri (McLaren) was third fastest and will start from the second row.
Joining him on that second row will be Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who qualified fourth.
Lando Norris, also driving for McLaren, was fifth quickest and will line up on the third row alongside Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton.
