Como returned to winning ways in Serie A with a well-earned 2-0 victory away to Genoa on 26 April 2026 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. It was a strong response from Cesc Fàbregas’s side after a difficult spell in the league, and it boosted their hopes of finishing in a Champions League place.
They started the match brightly and took the lead early on when Anastasios Douvikas headed in from a fine cross by Lucas Da Cunha in the 10th minute. The goal gave Como confidence, and they continued to look dangerous, coming close to a second when Nico Paz narrowly missed the target after beating two defenders. He later went even closer with a header that came back off the post.
Genoa had their chances before half-time, but Como goalkeeper Jean Butez made a key save to deny them an equaliser and keep his side ahead. Como were then forced into a change at half-time when Nico Paz went off injured and was replaced by Maxence Caqueret.
After the break, Genoa pushed harder in search of a goal and created a few openings, but Butez remained solid and made another important save to stop them getting back into the game. Despite the pressure, Como stayed organised and eventually made the result safe in the 68th minute. Caqueret was involved soon after coming on, helping to set up the move with a clever touch in the box, and Assane Diao finished from close range with a header.

The victory lifted Como into fifth place in Serie A, keeping them firmly in the hunt for European qualification and just two points behind fourth-placed Juventus. Genoa, meanwhile, remained in 14th place and continued their struggles in the bottom half of the table.
