Inter made it seven straight league wins with a 2-0 victory away to Lecce in the Serie A.
After a heavy defeat in midweek, Inter’s manager made several changes to the team. Lecce started brightly but suffered an early setback when Kialonda Gaspar went off injured. His replacement, Jamil Siebiert, quickly made an impact with an important goal-line clearance to deny Luis Henrique.
Inter created most of the chances in the first half, with Wladimiro Falcone making good saves to keep Lecce level at the break.
The visitors thought they had taken the lead early in the second half when Federico Dimarco turned in Marcus Thuram’s effort, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Inter finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. From a Dimarco corner, substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan finished well from inside the box. Shortly afterwards, another Dimarco corner caused problems in the area and Manuel Akanji headed in to seal the win.
The result keeps Inter top of the table, while Lecce remain just above the relegation zone.
