Matthaus doesn't see his team far: England is the favorite at the World Cup!

The legendary German football player, Lothar Matthaus, likes the “Gordon Albion” selection the most.

The start of the World Cup in Qatar is approaching. There is a lot of speculation about favorites, and potential surprises, the media around the world are interviewing the biggest legends of football, and the British Telegraph did the same – the interviewee is the legendary Lothar Matthaus.

The German lifted the World Cup trophy with his country in Italy in 1990, but it is interesting that he does not see his compatriots among the favorites for the World Cup, but England:

“If you look, England is one of the favorites for the World Cup. That selection, along with France, can put together three equally good first lineups”.

Matthaus reminded us that the English made a very good impression at the last two major competitions – they were fourth at the World Cup in Russia, while at the European Championship they lost the match for gold to Italy.

“This clearly proves that they are close to winning. However, a big problem can be their goalkeeper, because they don’t have super quality like Germany”.

The World Cup in Qatar starts on November 20, the English are in a group with Wales, the United States of America and Iran.
