Madness before the World Cup in Qatar. Ecuador could be kicked out of the World Cup, which would mean that Group “A” gets a new participant.
There is not much left until the start of the World Cup, a little more than two months, and Ecuador and its representative Byron Castillo are once again in the spotlight. The reason for all this is new incriminating evidence against them.
Previously, the Football Association of Chile complained to the football umbrella organization – FIFA, that they should expel Ecuador from the World Cup because their footballer’s birth certificate was falsified.
More precisely, it turns out that the football player was born three years earlier than reported, in Kolumnia.
The whole saga was covered by the British “Daily Mail”, which obtained documents and audio recordings from 2018, where Castillo admitted that he had forged documents in agreement with the leaders of the Ecuadorian FS.
In the video, he can be heard confirming who helped him with all of this, so it remains to be seen whether FIFA will step in or completely ignore the new evidence.
Despite everything, the Ecuadorian Football Association announced in 2019 that Castillo is their citizen and can play for the national team, and we will see if this will now cost them a place in the World Cup.
Ecuador is placed in group “A” against Qatar, the Netherlands and Senegal.
