Boris Becker: "Novak Djokovic will be friends with Federer and Nadal after his retirement"

Boris Becker, who was Djokovic’s coach between 2014 and 2016, in a recent interview stated that it is very likely that the current No. 1 will become friends with his biggest rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal after his retirement from tennis.

Boris gave an example of the relationship with his biggest rival, Andre Agassi. He said that it is hard for players to be friends while they are rivals, but when they stop playing, there is nothing but respect.

Agassi and Becker were the biggest rivals of that time. They met only 5 times in Grand Slams and Agassi won 4 matches and 8 Grand Slams, two more than Boris.

Becker said: ”We literally fought each other on the tennis court, with every opportunity you have. That’s why this big fan base developed for our games, because everyone knew that they play for everything, that they don’t give each other anything and that’s what defines them. They are people that I respect and that I enjoy spending time with. That would have been unthinkable when I was active.”

The former Novak’s coach predicted the same for the ‘Big Three‘: “Novak Djokovic obviously has the greatest respect for Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal. This may lead to a friendship in a few years.”
