Mercedes driver and 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton has been in the F1 world since 2007. Over the years he has always been professional but he admitted that in the past he used to trick his team into not showing up on test days.
The Brit admits that he was never a fan of Formula 1 testing days, which last between 2-3 days and take place before each season of the sport.
Speaking recently about the time George Russell told Toto Wolff he was ill, Hamilton recalled how he had lied to his team before testing. He said:
”When Toto said during our visit to the factory that George was sick, I started to doubt it. It’s something I’ve done in the past to miss test days, as it’s not something I like. So when I heard that, I thought, ‘ah, he’s surpassed me, he’s gone to another level.”
