Former ASVEL coach TJ Parker spoke to the media about the whole situation and the way his brother Tony handed him the sack.
Gianmarco Pozzecco was appointed in his place, so Parker lost his job due to poor results at the start of the new season. However, he does not resent his brother for the dismissal.
“I can only thank him. He put me on the bench, but that’s the life of a coach. You have to know how to quickly devote yourself to something else. Of course, we are a family and we have always kept things under control. Nothing will change the relationship between us. Of course, we heard each other, we also took the children together to a concert.” said Parker and continued:
“To repeat, I can’t thank him enough, but you have to understand that basketball is a passion for me. My life. I grew up with it and fell in love with coaching during Tony’s camps. It’s something I love. I’m constantly thinking about basketball, it’s a part of my life.”
He also talked about what he does now and revealed that he is waiting for a new engagement.
“I can look in the mirror because I know that I gave everything for the club. I’m leaving on a grand note, with four titles in three years and ten years at the club. I am proud to have had this adventure. I don’t regret anything. I didn’t cheat, I did my best from day one. I am waiting for a new engagement. I can always go to the USA, to college or to the NBA, but we’ll see what opportunities will arise in Europe. Right now I want to enjoy every day because I haven’t had the opportunity in the past 10 years.” Parker concluded.
