Monaco basketball player John Brown spoke to the Euroleague website about the role change and things that are not seen in the statistics, as well as about his defense.
Upon his arrival at Unics, the American realized that the team was offensively potent and that he had to pay more attention to the defense.
“When I went to Unics, we had many good strikers. I came back the next year and we had even more shooters. So you have to do something to get a chance to play. That’s what I had to do. I know I can contribute more in attack. But sometimes, less is more. I had to figure it out. When you’re in a good team, you don’t have to do everything. Now I’m just focusing on defense.” Brown began.
The former member of the Russian team was third in the vote for the best defender of the year last year, but this year he seems to want much more.
“I didn’t win the award for the best defender, but I think I’m the best defender in the Euroleague. I’ll get that respect when I win the Best Defender award. Then I will feel that I have arrived where I need to be.” said John Brown.
the most important thing for him is that he feels supported by his teammates and coaches for everything he does on the floor.
“I force loose balls and because of that, I get love. Even if the deduction is from the leg I am happy. When we win the ball, we get another chance to make a basket, and we have great scorers on our team, and that makes it even better. Opponents have to guard those guys and I can freely say to them, good luck.” John concluded.
