Recently retired basketball player Luigi Datome said he wants to see changes in interviews before and after games.
The Italian spoke about the fact that one and the same story is spread in basketball interviews. All coaches and players often speak with a lot of respect towards the opponent, and Datome appeals to change that cliché.
“I do not like that. All those statements before matches are banal. All actors have respect for the opponent and everyone is afraid of the match.” Gigi began.
After that, he cited the example of Ergin Ataman, who is known for his extravagant statements before matches.
“I understand that when someone expresses what he really thinks, that statement can hit him hard. I’m not saying that everyone should act like an Ataman, but there has to be some kind of balance between the two approaches,” Datome concluded.
