Asvel had a bad start to the season in the Euroleague. They recorded three defeats in the first four matches. However, that is not the only bad news for the French team.
Namely, the first center of the team, Joffrey Lauvergne, received a serious injury! The experienced French basketball player suffered a knee injury during the match against Maccabi (88:69, defeat of Asvel).
Lauvergne spent 17 minutes on the floor, after which he had to leave at one point and never returned to the field.
“I don’t know what type of injury he suffered, but it’s not good,” said Asvel’s coach, TJ Parker.
For now, there is no precise information, but it is suspected that Lovernje tore the anterior cruciate ligament. In such cases, the recovery period is about nine months. That would mean that this season is over for the former Partizan captain.
However, everyone hopes that it is only a strain or possibly a blow that will keep the strong center off the court for only a few weeks.
Nando de Colo arrived in Asvel this summer and, together with Lauvergne, represents the team’s biggest reinforcement. In these four rounds of the Euroleague, he averaged 8.3 points per game.
