Roma finds new sporting director in Monza

Since January, Roma has been in search of a sporting director after Thiago Pinto stepped down from the position following Jose Mourinho’s departure. According to Italian media reports, the choice has fallen on Francois Modesto, the director of Monza.

Modesto, a 45-year-old Frenchman, previously handled transfers for Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos. After achieving good results with the Athens-based club a year and a half ago, he joined Monza, where he managed to retain their top-flight status by bringing in Matija Popovic and assembling a team.

Modesto wasn’t the sole candidate for the position at Roma. There were talks that Daniele De Rossi, in that role, wanted former teammates Nicolas Burdisso and Aleksandar Kolarov, but the voice of Roma’s CEO, Line Suloku, who supported the Frenchman, prevailed.
