The coach of Efes, Ergin Ataman, said after the victory over Olympiakos that he is not worried about a slightly worse start to the season in the Euroleague.
Efes won over Olympiakos 82:71 and thus recorded their 6th triumph in the current Euroleague season. It is currently in position number 7 in the table, below Zalgiris.
It was the 4th victory in a row for the team from Istanbul, and after it, Ataman emphasized how important the end of the season is.
The atmosphere in the team was never bad, but the games we lost by a small margin at the beginning of the season and the absence of Larkin and Beaubois had a negative effect on us. In the last few matches, it became clear how important Rodrigue Beaubois is to us. Beaubois is now back and we continued to play the way we are all used to,’ said Ataman.
“A good start is important, but it is certainly more important to end up where we planned, and that comes first,” admitted the Efes coach.
He was also satisfied with the reaction of his team, considering that the European champion came back in the second half after being 10 points behind.
“Of course, that was very important for us. We didn’t start the game well, we had a lot of turnovers in the first half. Also, we were looking for a shot for a long time and we didn’t have a good flow of the ball. After the agreement in the dressing room at halftime, we improved the game in defense and in attack,’ concluded Ergin.
The Anadolu Efes team now has its obligations in the domestic championship, where on December 4 and 6 they will play against Karsiyaka and Buyukcekmece, and then on December 9, they will return to the Euroleague matches, where they will be guests in the always heated Zalgiris Arena, the team of the Lithuanian Zalgiris.
