Jessica Pegula finished her Wimbledon build-up in style by winning the Bad Homburg Open, beating Iga Swiatek 6-4, 7-5 to claim her third title of the year.
This is Pegula’s ninth WTA title and her first grass-court win of the season, adding to earlier victories on hard courts in Austin and clay in Charleston. With this win, the American has now won titles on all three surfaces in 2025.
Although she won in straight sets, the match was tight, with both players holding serve for long stretches. Swiatek only had one break point in the whole match and didn’t take it, while Pegula stayed solid and took her chances.
Pegula, currently world number three, broke Swiatek’s serve once in each set and served out the match with confidence to win her second grass title after her 2024 Berlin success.
For Swiatek, who hasn’t won a title in over a year, it was still a good week. She reached the final without losing a set and looked more at ease on grass, a surface she’s still trying to master.
With Wimbledon around the corner, Pegula’s strong form makes her a real threat at SW19, and many will now see her as a serious title contender.
