Malta had a fantastic week at the Blackball Nations Cup 2026 in Gibraltar, winning three gold medals in different categories, a big moment for the sport in the country.
The first gold came in the seniors’ individual event. Chris Tabone made history by becoming the first Maltese player to win this title. He beat Scotland’s Graham Dunbar 7–5 in the final with a strong performance.
The second gold was won by Malta’s men’s national team, led by Clevion Micallef. The team played brilliantly all week and didn’t lose a single match. In the final, they beat Scotland 13–11 to confirm their dominance.

The third gold came from the Under-23 team, coached by Duncan Edwards. The young players showed great promise and talent. In the final, they defeated Scotland 13–8, with Casdy Vella putting in an excellent performance.
Overall, Malta celebrated three gold medals and showed they are becoming a strong force in European blackball.
