Gzira United Veterans remain in first place in the VMFA Cisk Premier League after defeating Żurrieq Wolves 7-4. The Maroons controlled the match from start to finish, although the Wolves continued to fight hard to keep up with their opponents.
Ian Zammit and Justin Grioli each scored three goals, while Jonathan Pearson added one more for Gzira. For Żurrieq, Kevin Vella scored twice, and Brian Axisa and Bjorn Bondin also got on the scoresheet.
Floriana are still one point behind Gzira after narrowly beating Rabat Veterans 6-5. The game remained uncertain until the very end, with Rabat giving it their all, but it wasn’t enough on the day. Christian Cassar was the standout player for Floriana, scoring three goals, while Manolito Micallef, Glenn Bonello, and Gilbert Scerri also scored.
For Rabat, league top scorer Adam Smeir and Gilbert Camilleri both scored twice, and Andre Scicluna kept their hopes alive with another goal.
Hibernians earned their second win of the season by defeating Birkirkara 7-5 in another exciting match. Beppe Antignolo scored a hat-trick for Hibernians, with Adrian Lanzon, Clayton Micallef, Steve Bonnici, and Ilia Nazarov also finding the net. Luke Satariano scored twice for Birkirkara, while Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, Ronnie Hartvig, and Bojan Kaljevic added to their total.
MFPA had a walkover victory against Żejtun Red Stars.
