The Malta FA said in a social media post that it was delighted to announce the appointment of Roberto Menichelli as the new Head Coach of the Malta Futsal National Team.
A respected name in international futsal, Menichelli led Italy to the UEFA Futsal Euro title in 2014 and also coached their women’s national team. The MFA said that his arrival marks an exciting step forward for futsal in Malta.
Commenting on the appointment, Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr Matthew Paris remarked: “This appointment is another step forward in ensuring further growth of futsal in Malta.”
Roberto Menichelli is one of Italy’s foremost futsal coaches, whose playing career was followed by a successful national team coaching stint. He brought the Italian men’s futsal team to European glory in 2014, and continues to contribute to the sport through coach education and national team coordination. His profile blends playing, coaching and teaching — making him a key figure in the development of futsal in Italy.
As a player he represented the Italian national futsal team, earning 28 caps and scoring 8 goals
