The Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner has issued a number of suspensions following the latest round of domestic league fixtures, with several clubs set to be without key players in their next matches. The decisions include one-match bans and, in some cases, longer suspensions.
Birkirkara will be without Kurt Zammit, who has been handed a one-match suspension together with a financial fine following a second caution offence. The club will now need to reorganise ahead of their next outing.
Gzira United face similar setbacks. Clayton Failla received a one-match suspension after being sent off, while David Xuereb’s Hibernian’s player will also serve a one-match ban due to a second caution incident. Both players carry accompanying fines.
Hibernians have been hit with further disciplinary rulings. Miullen Natha Felicio Carvalho has been handed a three-match suspension for adopting a fighting attitude. This will be a significant absence for the Paolites at a key stage of the season.
Marsaxlokk will also need to adjust their selection options. Christoffer Henri Mafoumbi has received a one-match suspension after being sent off, while Jose Ulises Arias has been given a three-match ban under the same article applied to Carvalho. The latter represents a notable blow to Marsaxlokk’s squad depth.
From Mosta, both Chisom Sunday Okereke and Matthew Bolanos Garcia will each serve a one-match suspension after accumulating four yellow cards. Miguel Baggio Cover of Sliema Wanderers, also receives a one-match ban for the same reason.
Tarxien Rainbows will be without Kwasi Donsu for one match, again due to the accumulation of cautions, while Zean Leonardi of Żabbar St Patrick is the final player included among those suspended, also receiving a one-match ban for a fourth caution.
These suspensions will influence team selections across the next matchday, with several coaches forced to modify tactical plans and squad rotations as the season continues.
