The 2026 National Sprint Duathlon concluded with top performances across senior, age group, and youth categories. The event took place under the organisation of Shamrock Stars Sports Club and received positive feedback from participants, coaches, and officials.
In the elite categories, Kai Azzopardi of Agones secured the Male National Champion title, while Danica Bonello Spiteri of Pembroke Athleta was crowned Female National Champion. Although Zia Fujii of Shamrock Stars finished first overall in the women’s race, the National Championship title is awarded to the highest-placed Maltese athlete.
The competition included a wide range of age group winners. Male category victors included Mark Anthony Scicluna (25+), Gianluca Sciberras (30+), Frank Attard (35+), Josef Azzopardi (40+), Ben Psaila (45+), Adrian Bezzina (50+), and Charles Camilleri (55+). Female age group winners included Danica Bonello Spiteri (45+) and Lindsey Pirotta (30+).

Youth and development categories highlighted emerging talent. U23 male athletes saw Kai Azzopardi lead the podium, followed by Daniel Sultana and Michael Magrin. In the junior and youth male categories, Nathan Pace, Liam Daly, and Aiden Muscat took top positions. Zia Fujii won the youth female category.
Triathlon categories were also contested across Tri 1, Tri 2, and Tri 3 classes. Notable winners included Jake Refalo, Leo Buccheri, and Ethan Cumbo in Tri 3 male; Katie Anne Vella Wood in Tri 3 female; Kruiven Farrugia in Tri 2 male; and Amy Micallef Cann in Tri 1 female.

Key highlights of the event included outstanding performances from youth athlete Liam Daly, who finished second overall, and Zia Fujii, who won the overall female race despite competing in the youth category. Across all age groups, athletes delivered strong results in a highly competitive mixed-category format.
The event was widely praised for its organisation, competitive structure, and positive experience for participants. Shamrock Stars Sports Club received direct commendation from the President and Secretary of the Malta Triathlon Federation, further strengthening the event’s reputation as a key fixture in Malta’s triathlon calendar.
