Paris Saint-Germain continued their march towards the Ligue 1 title with a 3-1 victory over Olympique de Marseille, securing their fifth straight win in Le Classique.
Fresh from their historic win at Anfield, PSG faced a tough challenge on their return to domestic action. The match started with both teams creating chances, as Amine Gouiri’s free-kick was saved and Nuno Mendes saw efforts blocked by Geoffrey Kondogbia and Gerónimo Rulli. However, Ousmane Dembélé continued his outstanding form, latching onto Fabián Ruiz’s pass, turning past Rulli, and firing into the net to give PSG the lead. This goal extended his impressive record to 25 goals in his last 20 matches.
Marseille responded by pushing for an equaliser. Adrien Rabiot headed wide, Bilal Nadir won a free-kick but struck it into the wall, and Gouiri’s follow-up was deflected wide by Vitinha. Gianluigi Donnarumma then saved a shot from Valentin Rongier, and Gouiri had another effort deflected after a misplaced pass from Achraf Hakimi. After withstanding Marseille’s attacks, PSG doubled their lead in the 42nd minute when Fabián Ruiz played in Mendes, who slid the ball past Rulli.
Dembélé had another chance early in the second half but fired over from Désiré Doué’s cutback. Marseille found a way back into the game when Rabiot rounded Donnarumma and unselfishly set up Gouiri to score. PSG nearly restored their two-goal cushion when Dembélé’s shot was deflected onto the post by Luiz Felipe, and Rulli made a quick save to stop Warren Zaïre-Emery. However, Marseille’s hopes were dashed in the 76th minute when Pol Lirola turned Hakimi’s cross into his own net.

Quentin Merlin came close to pulling one back for Marseille, but his shot went just wide, leaving PSG to celebrate their seventh consecutive Ligue 1 win. The victory extended their lead over second-placed Marseille to 19 points. Meanwhile, Marseille’s struggles continued, with this being their third defeat in four games after previously losing just one of their last 11 league matches.
