Żabbar St. Patrick finally secured their first three points of the season in the YoHealth Malta Premier, earning a well-deserved 2-0 win over Gżira United in Sunday’s early kickoff from Matchday 7.

The breakthrough came early in the 14th minute. Zean Leonardi made a strong run into the Gżira box and fired a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Karl Sargent, but the ball slipped through his hands and ended up in the net to give Żabbar a 1-0 lead.

Żabbar doubled their advantage in the 75th minute after substitute Mario Fontanella was fouled inside the area by David Xuereb. The referee awarded a penalty, and Brian Gambarte converted confidently from the spot to make it 2-0.

It was a crucial win for Żabbar St. Patrick, lifting them up the table and injecting confidence into their campaign. Meanwhile, Gżira United remain stuck in 11th place with just three points from seven matches, and pressure is mounting on coach Clive Mizzi as their poor run of form continues.
