Aston Villa comfortably reached the Europa League semi-finals after beating Bologna 4–0 on the night and 7–1 on aggregate. It was their ninth straight home win in major European matches.
Bologna started well and created a few early chances, but Villa soon took control. Ollie Watkins scored the first goal, his 100th for the club, after a good team move.
Villa kept pushing, but Bologna’s goalkeeper made a strong save from a penalty. Soon after, Emiliano Buendía scored Villa’s second goal with a clever finish from a tight angle.
Morgan Rogers then added a third before half-time, ending his long goal drought.
In the second half, Villa were in full control and didn’t need to push too hard. They still managed to score a fourth goal through Ezri Konsa with a well-taken volley.

Villa have now kept six clean sheets at home against Italian teams in European competitions. Bologna exit the tournament after another away defeat in England.
