Sliema Wanderers moved up to second place in the league table with a solid 2-0 win over their long-time rivals Floriana. This was their first victory against Floriana this season.
In the 64th minute, Sliema broke the deadlock through a well-worked move. Acheampong passed to Awad, whose first shot was saved, but he scored from the rebound. Six minutes later, Sliema doubled their lead when a long free kick from Agu Emeka reached Plut, who beat his marker and finished past the goalkeeper.
Floriana struggled to respond, and Sliema managed the game well to secure an important win.
