Ħamrun Spartans returned to winning ways with a 3–0 victory over Naxxar Lions at the National Stadium, claiming their first win in the Top 6 phase of the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round.
Damir Ceter gave the Spartans the lead in the 35th minute, before an own goal from Felipe Gustavo nine minutes later doubled their advantage.
Ħamrun took full control of the match and were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute after a foul on Eder Bruno. Joseph Mbong stepped up and converted to seal the third goal.
With this win, Ħamrun remain level on 25 points in second place alongside Marsaxlokk.
They now face Closing Round winners Floriana next Saturday at the National Stadium, before a clash with rivals Valletta the following week.
