Marsaxlokk secured an important 2-1 victory over Gżira United thanks to a brace from in-form Cape Verde forward Dodo, maintaining second place and keeping the pressure on Ħamrun Spartans in the race for a Final Four finish in the YoHealth Malta Premier.
After a goalless first half, Marsaxlokk broke the deadlock in the 54th minute when Dodo found the net. However, Gżira United responded quickly, with Maxuell Maia equalising just four minutes later.
Marsaxlokk continued to push forward in search of a winner, and their persistence paid off in the 74th minute. Dodo rose highest to meet a cross and headed past goalkeeper Colombo to secure a crucial victory for the Southseasiders.
The result keeps Marsaxlokk firmly in contention for a final four place as the league campaign heads towards its decisive final stages.
