Floriana and Sliema Wanderers shared the points in the Old Firm derby from Matchday Eleven of the YoHealth Malta Premier League, with the match finishing level after both sides held the lead at different moments.
Sliema created the first sight of goal after eight minutes when Prsa tried his luck from distance, but his effort rose over the bar. Floriana went ahead in the fifteenth minute following hesitation inside the Sliema penalty area, as Grech reacted quickest to a loose ball following an Al Tumi clearance and finished from close range.
On 28 minutes Beerman went close for Floriana, only for Ferreira da Silva to push his shot away. At the other end Bah almost levelled with a strike that just missed the upright on 35 minutes, before the same player equalised five minutes later, arriving well inside the box to turn in a cross from the left. Sliema continued to press and Baggio fired over from distance in the 42nd minute. Just before the interval Al Tumi was quick off his line to deny Varela in a dangerous moment for Floriana.
At the start of the second half, Sliema coach Paul Zammit introduced Murilo for Frendo. Floriana then forced several opportunities, with Linhares heading wide on 53 minutes and Areias twice going close shortly after, including a header against the post in the 62nd minute.
Floriana retook the lead on 70 minutes when Varela struck from a central position inside the penalty area. However, just eight minutes later, Sliema equalised for a second time, this time through Baggi,o who finished a flowing move. The Wanderers introduced Plut soon after, while Floriana made a double substitution on 83 minutes as Mabea and Texeira replaced Varela and Spiteri. Garzia was introduced for Veselji a minute from the end of normal time.
Sliema wasted a golden chance in added time when Montebello lifted the ball over the bar from close range. Floriana had the final opportunity of the match when Areias met a cross with a header, but his effort went high.
