Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been banned for 13 matches after punching Huesca defender Jorge Pulido during a heated second division derby on Sunday.
The Spanish football federation’s disciplinary committee confirmed the punishment on Wednesday, with both the player and the club also fined. Andrada received a 12-match suspension for the punch itself, while his initial red card added an automatic one-match ban.

The incident occurred in stoppage time after Andrada had already been shown a second yellow card for shoving Pulido to the ground. The Argentine goalkeeper then reacted furiously, ran towards the Huesca player and struck him in the face, sparking a brawl involving several players.

The ban rules Andrada out for the remainder of the season, a major setback for Zaragoza as they continue their fight to avoid relegation. The 35-year-old is currently on loan from Mexican club Monterrey.
Andrada apologised after the match, admitting that his actions had damaged the image of the club, the supporters and himself as a professional.
Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also dismissed following the melee. Jimenez received a four-match ban, while Tasende was suspended for two games.
Zaragoza condemned the incident, saying the scenes were unbecoming of football and should never have happened. Huesca went on to win the match 1-0.
